Trance Energy’ performing like no other can. And on top of that, the internationally renowned performer will release no less than two albums may 2009. Airscape 2009, plus part 1 in a all new concept from Black Hole recordings: Private Party. There’s no denying that Johan Gielen is back where he rightfully belongs: at the very top of the international dance scene.
The triple good news is already being heralded the world over. Fans rejoice in seeing the master of dance pump out two quality albums, plus they look forward to what certainly will be a benchmark performance at Trance Energy 2009.
The rebirth of Airscape, the famed trance concept by Johan Gielen that first saw light in the nineties, for many feel like the return of the prodigal son. “Airscape is the true trance sound that originated here in The Netherlands but conquered the world,” says Johan Gielen. “L’Esperanza, Pacific Melody, all of them true classics that defined the trance sound of that era, and, surprisingly to some, are still rock solid today.”
The rebirth of Airscape is for Gielen a logical step that follow a ‘creative hibernation’, as Johan Gielen himself puts it. The new Airscape 2009 sees Tiësto and First State, to name just a few, remixing timeless classics. The end result is a contemporary take on trance in a new millennium. For the most part, as is expected, Airscape 2009 sees Johan Gielen himself producing or remixing the major parts of the album.
“The return of Airscape is truly wonderful. It is, and always has been, my offspring, my child. This segment of uplifting trance has made a remarkable comeback the past few years, and rightly so. Airscape is very much a part of that.”
The first single release ‘My Love’ (vocals by Jes Breiden) is slated for the 16th of march 2009 on the Black Hole/Tunes For You label.
Trance Energy, 7th of march in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht, will see Johan Gielen performing for the 15th time, a wholly unique experience for everybody. The 30,000 fans will flock to see the icon of this event taking them on a musical journey like none before.
“The 15th time, that is truly remarkable, and it does feel that way too. From the small event in the small provincial town of Eindhoven, to the mass event that TE is today in Utrecht. And me being there on almost every edition. Believe you me, this has been one heck of a journey, and that is exactly what I will take my audience on in my set at the event.”
Of course, something special is to be expected from a superstar such as Johan Gielen. “I’ll take my audience on a musical trip of a lifetime, but that’s just about all that I’m prepared to say at this moment – the surprise element is all important.”
To conclude the triplet of good news: march 2009 will see the release of the highly anticipated new concept by Black Hole Recordings: ‘private party’ “The name says it all,” says Johan Gielen. “Every DJ that is privileged to compile and mix an album in this series, will bring a private party to the home of the listener. For me, as can be expected, I will compose a musical roller coaster that starts off more or less serene, and rapidly grows to a more energetic pitch. Not just trance, but influences from electro, techtrance and true house as well. Private Party is a showcase of what I stand for today: it is a contemporary take on dance and an exhilarating journey through trance en dance, Johan Gielen style.”The conclusion can only be that Johan Gielen is once again back where he belongs: at the forefront of dancemusic in 2009.
